The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is receiving federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery program for the purpose of assisting in the repair and/or reconstruction of housing units damaged by Hurricane Ike, which made landfall on September 13, 2008. Only properties occupied by low-to-moderate income households will be eligible to apply (See income table). If the property is a rental unit, the property owner must agree to keep the units affordable for a time period to be determined by the State. The property sites must be located in the following counties and all the cities therein: Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Matagorda, Walker or Waller Counties. Housing recovery services for low to moderate income households, whether they own or rent, can include:

Repair and/or reconstruction of:

- Ike-damaged single-family rental homes, and
- Certain Ike-damaged multifamily rental units
Voluntary relocation in accordance with the State's
Homeowner Opportunity Program (certain restrictions apply)

Who Do I Go to for Hurricane Disaster Recovery Housing Repair or Reconstruction Assistance?
Housing Recovery Services are typically offered through disaster recovery housing programs administered by H-GAC, individual counties, the City of Galveston and the City of Houston. County-level programs provide services to unincorporated areas of the county and all cities therein. The H-GAC sub-regional housing recovery program covers: Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Matagorda, Walker and Waller counties and all cities therein. County-level programs include: Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery. The City of Galveston and the City of Houston self-administer their programs. Contact information for the county and city programs can be found at the General Land Office Disaster Recovery Housing Sub-Recipient webpage.

Specific eligibility requirements apply. Assistance may be in the form of Housing Rehabilitation, Reconstruction or Replacement. No cash assistance will be provided.
